IP cameras can be CCD or CMOS based, CCD based cameras are more light sensitive, can handle down to 0.001 LUX, but for the time being, its resolution is not as high and is more expensive than CMOS. CMOS based are less light sensitive, typically .1~.01 LUX, but can handle very high resolution, >2560x1920 pixels at a very reasonable price. Users can add CCTV infrared lighting to compensate for the low light sensitivity.

When you are selecting IP cameras, please make sure that the recording s/w is "fast" enough such that the native resolution and frame rate of the camera can be retained. For example, you may have an IP camera that operates at 1600x1200pixels, 15fps. Lots of third party NVR or s/w will claim that they are compatible, but if you read the fine prints carefully, you will find that they can record at 704x480 pixels, 15fps @JPEG. If it is this case, you might as well use the less expensive cctv camera.

Dahua and HikVision have a complete line of IP cameras, from low cost 4CIF (D1) IP cam to 1.3, 2, 3, 5 MPixel IP cameras. Box type IP cam allows you to select your own lens, Bullets usually are IP66 with IR, and domes can be in/outdoor, with or without IR.

All Dahua and HikVision IP cameras on this web page comes with a "NV server" and "NV client s/w ", also, Active-X on IE.

Server s/w supports 30+ IP cameras being recorded at frame rate and resolution as stated on their specification, e.g. a 1920x1080 pixels, 15fps camera with the NV s/w will record at the same specification, without any "discount". Moreover, NV software will add feature values, such as Motion detection, alarm triggering, Intelligent Video Analysis that includes: Unattended object, missing object, Smoke & Fire, Movememt direction, intrusion, tripwire, Face detection and object counting.

Client s/w supports remote viewing on multiple IP cameras, DVRs and PC DVRs. It also supports recording, on main or sub-stream, according to your bandwidth availability. It allow supports remote control.

IE with active-X supports single views on different IP appliances.

License fee will be addition for IP cameras from Sony, Acti, Dahua, Mobotix, Axis, Huviron, Arecontvision. The NVR supports camera parameter setting, recording, playback, monitoring of all these cameras. Standard features as motion detect, schedule recording, sensor triggered recording, video+ audio, main stream and sub stream recording. ePTZ allows a lesser resolution window (720x480) to pan and zoom within a Hi-Def Mega Pixel IP camera window (1920x1080). Real PTZ function is available. Multiple resolution, from 1024 x768 4:3 to 1920x1080 16:9

Client s/w

Remote client s/w and active-X plug in for Internet Explorer comes with these IP cameras. These remote can be used for monitoring, recording, paramter settings, ePTZ and PTZ. Multiple resolution, from 1024 x768 4:3 to 1920x1080 16:9.
